Monica began her Public Accounting career after graduating with a B.S. in accounting from Duquesne University in May of 1983 with the Pittsburgh office of Coopers and Lybrand. In 1986, Monica joined Mellon Bank as an Assistant Trust Officer providing comprehensive financial planning for high net worth individuals and Mellon Bank executives. In February 1988, she was recruited to join Deloitte, Haskins and Sells’ Executive Financial Planning (EFP) Practice. As part of the EFP Practice, Monica was part of a fourteen person national task force to develop financial planning throughout selected offices of Deloitte, Haskins and Sells’, including the Pittsburgh office. Looking back, DHS was one of the first professional corporate planners to embrace the investment management concepts of Asset Allocation and Modern Portfolio Theory. In addition to the task force role, she was responsible for the comprehensive tax and financial planning for many of the executives of Deloitte’s Fortune 500 audit clients. In 1998, Monica was promoted to Tax Manager. While at Deloitte, Haskins and Sells’, Monica was involved with numerous writing and speaking engagements. Through her experience at Deloitte, Haskins and Sells’ and Mellon Bank, she has developed vast financial planning, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning experience.

In 1991, Monica joined First Commonwealth Trust Company (FCTC) to form, manage and develop the new Johnstown regional office at Cenwest Bank. The focus of her experience at First Commonwealth Trust Company was in business development as well as estate, retirement and financial planning, and early in her career at First Commonwealth Trust Company, Trust Administration. She also was a lead professional in retirement plan design and implementations. Monica was solely responsible for all financial and estate planning for bank clients throughout the four regional trust offices which covered 81 bank branches.

In January 1999, Monica joined International Planning Group as a Senior Vice President in charge of all tax research for the firm. She also became an investment advisor representative (holding all major securities and insurance licenses) with International Planning Group’s Broker/Dealer, LPL Financial Services.

In May of 2000, Monica joined forces with several talented investment professionals to create an independent un-biased fee only investment advisory firm. In February of 2001, the SEC approved PRIMESolutions Advisors, LLC as a Registered Investment Advisor. Monica currently chairs the Firm’s Investment Committee.

Adding further depth to her credentials, in July of 2002, Monica completed the 2.5 Day Accredited Investment Fiduciary curriculum sponsored by the Center for Fiduciary Studies at the Katz Business School; and in August 2003 joined the ranks of professionals who hold the official designation of Accredited Investment Fiduciary AIF™. The AIF™ designation distinguishes Monica as a qualified plan Investment Professional focused on the Fiduciary integrity of the plan assets within an unbundled independent platform.

Monica also has past experience as an instructor for both the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants as well as the College for Financial Planning. Recently in September of 2007 Monica was chosen to be part of a Presentation Panel at the Center for Due Diligence Annual Conference.

Monica is on the Board of Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley as well as the Independent Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Altoona/Johnstown. Monica resides in the Westmont section of Johnstown, PA with her husband Dr. Michael Garver owner of Family Dentistry Associates of Johnstown, and their three children. The Garver’s are active in the community and their church.
